We started a new FAB project — monthly zines! Our first one was created during the February meeting, and there are copies in the teen room. The second issue is in production. Look for it in the teen room next week. We need some sort of sign or box or something to hold them. Who wants to make a zine container?
We had some a Guitar Hero in January, a DDR program in February, and next week (Saturday, Mar. 21 @ 2pm) we’re hosting a Teen Open Mic! Do you want to show off your talents? Does your band need a gig? Contact me to register your act, or be an audience member! The Teen Open Mic will be held in the 4th Floor McCallum Room. We’ll have food and drinks for all performers and audience members! It’s FREE!
We also have a TEEN TECH WEEK party on Thursday, Mar. 19 @ 2pm — that’s during Spring Break Week. We’ll be playing video and board games, taking digital photos with a green screen, and have a raffle that you can enter anytime during the week. There will be gaming, prizes, and more! This event is for teens only!

Me, the Missing, and the Dead by Jenny Valentine
This is the author’s debut novel, and WOW! It’s amazing!
Lucas’s dad went missing five years ago, and life has never been the same for the 16 year old. He first meets Violet at a cab garage. She’s in an urn on a shelf, waiting for a surviving friend or family member to remember that they left her in one of the cabs. Lucas wants to rescue her, put her in a better environment. It seems that Violet’s has started to communicate with the teen. Lucas and his grandma Pansy rescue the urn, and it is content to stay at Pansy’s house. Violet becomes an important part of Lucas’s life, as he has mentally linked the appearance of Violet’s urn as a key to finding out more about his dad’s disappearance. Is he dead or is he alive? As he learns more about the woman Violet was, he finds out more about his dad, and about himself. His life gets a lot more complicated.

After a month off in August, FAB came back in full force on September 4th, with 11 teens showing up, including 3 new members! In case you missed out on the action, here are the minutes:

For those of you who weren’t there, we viewed our new FAB Man/FAB Woman video, and it proved to be absolutely FABulous! Remember, we’re premiering our video to the public on September 20, during our Superhero Movie Marathon. We haven’t yet obtained permission from the city to post our video on the Internet, but here are a few pictures to tide you over in the meantime (click to make larger):

It was a small group due to summer vacation, but we had several newbies who showed up to help us sort and pack our House of Hope donations. Thanks to everyone’s hard work, we got a lot done in just one hour. Check out the mountain of stuff we had to go through:
